The season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead may still be nearly four months away, but thanks to Universal Studios Hollywood, you can now get your fix a lot sooner. Coming this Monday, July 4, The Walking Dead will open a new attraction at the studio, thanks to TWD's creative team (executive producer and director, Greg Nicotero, and his special effects company, KNB efx). So, what can fans expect? Authentic walker make-up, animatronic walkers, detailed set design and costumes, and recognizable props replicated from the series, promises Universal. Although the cutting-edge attraction wasn't yet finished when we visited the Los Angeles theme park a few weeks ago, we did get a front-row seat to the intense casting process thanks to TWD Walker Boot Camp. In fact, Nicotero and his team even brought out Joe Giles, the first zombie ever tested for The Walking Dead. "There was a scene in season two when Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) crashed her car, and a zombie stuck his face into the window and ripped its face off. That was Joe," relays Nicotero. "Joe played that zombie." So, who best to teach a handful of journalists what it takes to be a walker on The Walking Dead than Joe? As it turns out, it's quite an art form, and definitely not as easy as one might think. So, what do you need to know if you want to be a walker on TWD? Consider these six steps your must-have guide:
